English bookstores in China aren't very common, and they're not very good. Especially if you look for stiff like science fiction etc. Having been to Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur and Sydney all of which have Kinokuya. A Japanese bookstore chain, with quite a good English selection. Maybe explore shipping with Amazon, but waiting weeks seems bad. No I won't go electronic yet unless all old books are available too. Also, that you don't own them is another bad point. Can't even lend it freely to a friend or transfer ownership. But people with kindles seems to swear by them.
