Vietnamese language
I've come to a kind of insight. It seems to me that you on principle would be able to speak Vietnamese totally without consonants. It all a kinds of vowelsong. This is in stark contrast to slavic languages that seems to dwell mostly in the consonant space. Thus to learn Vietnamese maybe one should only sing?
OK. Of course this is oversimplification. For most foreigners being exposed to other languages, one often tend to characterize them as singing. Swedish do that about norwegian. Norwegians do that about swedish. Thinking about it Danish also seems to drop consonants as well as French.
Now, how can this help me to learn Chinese? :D

Meet a trouble maker!
In Saigon. Arrived late on Tuesday. Walked around the city till 3am. Its warm but quite comfortable since it has rained and the sun keeps away. Visited the newly formed hackerspace, met the trouble maker. Drank Vietnamese coffee at Cafe Da. I don't think its the same Da as in Chinese "big" as in my name but I was there any case.
Now having dinner across from a Guy who sleeps on his motobike under the watching eye of the samurai.

"Authentic Chinese"
When a restaurant claims to be "Authentic Chinese" in Hong Kong I'm not sure what that means. Of course Hong Kong is and isn't China... But?

Brain mystery for you to solve...
I recharge my octopussy card for public transport in Hong Kong. I was given one receipt and a 500 bill. I crumble up the receipt and threw it in the trash. What is in my other hand?

Hong Kong diner in Shenzhen
Yeah, OK, in starving for bread!
Its funny how the diner culture exists here. They do look like diners in USA kindof. But did they get this from USA or from England. I assume it all came from Hong Kong, which would make it England but England has no such things, right?

Last night in Guangzhou
The temperature in Guangzhou and Shenzhen is in stark contrast to Beijing. People are literally walking topless, well guys at least. The train station is filled with people, you must wonder if any one works as there are so many people travelling!
Even just buying a ticket may sometimes be a several hours adventure, luckily for me trains to shenzhen has their own "terminal" it seems.

Buddha birthday in Guangzhou
Things appear random.
I arrived in left my hotel at 10pm went looking for food. Ended upb taking to some guys in the park, when it closed we went to look for food. One guy paid for us. He's just student but wouldn't let me pay even just for me. Very nice evening meeting genuine people.
Then I was walking home to my hotel I saw some guys with white t shirt with Zen style logo so I said hi. They explained that they're walking to the temple nearby, for Buddha's birthday. So I ask if I can join. They give me a t shirt and in the way we are. Most of the do protrations (kneeling to Buddha) on the road every few steps while chanting. We arrive a slow but timely long walk nearing 4am. Some leave, others rest a bit. Then the temple opens and they continue doing prostrations. They tell me that there police stopped them since they're afraid of any group doing anything so they stopped for while. But then continued after police left, pretty brave, they'd been walking for hours when I meet them.
Then in the temple there is like a marathon of chanting for hours, finally we bathe the baby Buddha and I go home. I go to bed at 730!
The most interesting things can happen when walking around...
Now, tonight, who knows? Tomorrow I probably go to shenzhen...
The Cousin Cousin Cafe
Hilarious menu! Haven't had so much fun reading a menu long time. Its especially interesting since its quite a popular restaurant with at least 10% foreigners. Maybe we can guess why?
Makes me want to open authentic Chinese restaurant in west somewhere but have this kind of menu!

Visiting Goukr.com - Eschers perpetual waterfall
My friend Hao Zhang at Goukr.com built a working replica of a perpetual waterfall. Pretty cool! Some people think its video editing to make it look real, but it isn't. It works!
Then we had a meeting about creating a second hackerspace in Beijing...
Btw Goukr is the Chinese equivalent of instructables.org or is it .com?
They're creating China's own Ted style conference!
